UNESCO CST teacher Professional Development Capacity building


trainingSchool Master Teacher Professional development capacity building program in ICT integration is based on well designed, internationally used policies in ICT-competency standards for teachers developed by UNESCO, United Nation Agency. The 4 days (24 hours) Capacity building workshop is tailored to offers basic ICT skills for in-service Teachers population at all levels covering Basic e-learning concepts, Pedagogy and integration of ICT in classroom, 21st century classroom management skills and UNESCO ICT CST certification.

 

UNESCO ICT COMPETENCY STANDARDS FOR TEACHERS (CST) are defined as a tool/benchmark to determine the competencies of a pioneer/leader/innovative teacher and to develop a core of learning activities which can be adapted and used throughout our member states. Thus the “Syllabus” of this course is adopted to set “a detailed description of the knowledge areas and skill sets” of pioneer teachers. According to the pioneer teacher’s profile, the UNESCO TT Syllabus deals with knowledge and skills related to four main areas of competence:

  • Pedagogy and ICT,
  • Collaboration and ICT,
  • Organizational development and ICT,
  • School innovation and ICT.

In the 4 days of the workshop teachers are exposed to these four components of a pioneer teacher’s profile with latest art of technology and e-learning content of 3D animations which gives them confidence and ability to enhance their own  professional development using reflective practice and Constructivism. Day one of the workshop introduce them to the concepts of e-learning, Day two basic tools for classroom management and ICT integration and day three focuses on 21st century skills and web based learning.

Inputs of this program are based on the activities the teacher is expected to perform in these three day programs.   The inputs will include the components of -

  • IT applications i.e Netsupport Classroom management, Microsoft office e.tc,
  • Subject contents and Pedagogical processes e.g Eureka E-learning content

Some components are common to all subjects. While some components are program specific i.e either for Mathematics, Physics, chemistry, or Biology. Both of them together forms a Certificate Course. These modules are used as TPD course material and both infusion and Diffusion approaches are employed.This program will help teachers in increasing - their content mastery, and better understanding and application of the pedagogical processes.It is expected that at the end of the course, the teacher will be able to provide the students

This Program targets  School  Heads and Managers ,focusing on developing ICT strategies , applications of Strategic Management Information Systems, Change Management, Security, control   and  improving of Education  IS  infrastructure. The emphasis is on training in a range of tools and Strategic Plans and increasing their awareness of the opportunities for applying ICT to their teaching and managerial duties.

 

The four Days capacity building workshop will be conducted in designated training centers for hosting training sessions to ensure active participation of trainee’s.


The objective of the workshop is to empower Education Managers with skills on managing new and emerging information and communications technologies so that they can plan to acquire and implement them in their respective institutions to support day to day functions.


Specific objective include:
